At Parkview Dentistry, true Invisalign failure is uncommon. When Invisalign-style treatment does not go as expected, it is usually for one of two reasons:
-
The case was not a good match for aligners alone
-
The trays were not worn or seated properly over time.
When we match the right cases with the right expectations, problems are rare.
What A True Failure Looks Like
A real failure would be a situation where, after giving treatment a fair chance with good cooperation, aligners still cannot bring the teeth and bite into an acceptable position. That does not happen often when case selection is careful.
More commonly, difficulties occur when aligners are used for very complex bite or skeletal problems that would be better handled with traditional orthodontic methods. In those situations, the limitation is not the idea of aligners, but the decision to use them for something they were never intended to do alone.
Refinements Are Not The Same As Failure
With Invisalign, refinements are a normal part of many cases. You may finish your original set of trays and find that there are still small details to improve. At that point, we take new records, adjust the digital plan, and order additional aligners.
This process can happen more than once. It can lengthen treatment, but it is not an indication that things are falling apart. It is simply how we bring the real teeth into closer alignment with the planned result.
Tracking, Wear, And How Problems Start
Aligners need to fit snugly on your teeth to move them correctly. If trays are:
-
Not worn enough hours each day
-
Changed to the next set too quickly
-
Not fully seated on the teeth
Then, later trays can start fitting poorly, and the planned movements can drift off track.
We check how well trays are seating at each visit, use seating aids when needed, and talk clearly about wear-time expectations. This combination helps keep cases aligned with the plan and makes genuine failures very rare.
By choosing appropriate cases, staying involved in every step, and partnering with patients on compliance, we keep the failure rate of Invisalign-style treatment at Parkview Dentistry very low.
