Family Dentistry

Family DentistryFamily dentistry allows the whole family to be treated by one dentist.  The family dentist serves the same function as a general dentist. Children who are brought to the family dentist for regular check-ups and to watch while other family members are treated are freer to form a warm relationship with the members of the dental team.  For these young patients, teaching them to brush properly, to floss regularly and to eat healthy meals can help prevent the need for more serious treatment in the future. Older members of the family can build healthy habits, schedule regular teeth cleaning as well as check-ups to detect any problems with tooth decay or gum disease.

In addition, at Parkview Dentistry, we have a wide range of other dental services such as dental restorations, including porcelain veneers, bonding, mercury free fillings, partial and full dentures, implant preparation, teeth whitening and even Invisilign clear teeth straightening.   Dr. Willard and his dental team also offer Sedation Dentistry and Neuromuscular Dentistry for patients who have needs in these areas.

The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends dental exams twice a year at the same interval as teeth cleaning appointments. To avoid serious problems that would require drastic measures like a root canal, crown or tooth extraction, x-rays should be taken at least once a year to be sure that all is well.  Another excellent preventative measure for the whole family, and especially children is regular flouride treatments to coat the teeth with a protective coating that will help prevent tooth decay.

Although family dentists are typically associated with preventative and restorative dentistry, Dr. Willard and his dental team have pursued additional training in order to be able to provide cosmetic dentistry services such as teeth whitening, dental restorations with crowns, fittings for invisilign tooth adjusters,  and porcelain veneers.

As with any Family Dentist, there are times when a specialist is needed to perform specialized treatments such as orthodontists (for teeth straightening), endodontists (for more complex root canal treatments), prosthodontists (for more complex crowns or for dental implants) or maxillofacial surgeons (for oral surgery).   Rest assured that no matter what your dental needs, the Parkview Dentistry team will be able to provide the best care available for you and your entire family.
